Another business trip to another town and hotel Had made the reservation and arrived. She works with us since 4 years and she is one of the most welcoming and helpful employees. The hotel is recently refurbished and of good quality. Only 2 public convenience style dispensers of liquid cleaning stuff. Avoid this hotel if you can because it is awful and unprofessional. Dont go anywhere else for dinner. I'd stay here again, but only in the summer when the air con works. We can recommend this newly refurbished and very clean hotel without any hesitation. The location is great. Pesciolino, a sleek highly ranked privately-owned seafood restaurant, is accessed directly off the lobby ... a wonderful added amenity for this well-managed hotel. (And there is a restaurant across the courtyard with great food - especially the spaghetti carbonara.). With our best regards. Now I went again (after visiting more than 23 cities) and it is better in so many ways. Room was very hot and obviously AC turned off at this time of year, room was actually very uncomfortable as we were forced to have the window open and the noise from the restaurant next door went into the small hours of the morning. our room was clean and well equipped. We arrived after a fairly challenging trip & found the hotel challenging to locate but the staff were super helpful & arranged a valet service even although there was no space in their own car parking facility. Great to have one of the the recommended most authentic restaurant in Genoa as part of it. We enjoyed the breakfast thoroughly! The breakfast was absolutely perfect have lots of food and drinks. Highly recommend the breakfast, wide choice of food, drinks and great service. No toiletries in the room just the horrid dispensers on the wall and small towels. Definitely a recommended option for Genoa. The location is the best to visit Genoa. 2 visits in this hotel and would for sure go for the 3rd time. When I complained to the hotel I was told it was "technically impossible" to have a system that would be able to provide heat and cold air at the same time, which obviously shows this people don't go out much ;) Just the day before I had stayed for three nights at the Best Western Hotel City in Milan with perfectly working air conditioning and then four nights at the Best Western Blu Hotel in Rome also without any problems activating the air conditioning. We got hopelessly lost walking around as Genoa is not a grid city and it took a while to get our bearings but once we discovered how close everything was we were delighted. There was an excellent choice of foods at breakfast. We received several emails later from management that explain that they do not take responsibility for what happened. Helpful staff. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. If travelling with a lot of luggage, you might have to have two goes at it. Hotel_Direzione, Responsabile relazioni con la clientela at Best Western Plus City Hotel, responded to this review Dear FMD88528, Thanks for your review. This location was ideal for seeing the best of Genoa, which is a very interesting city. Cleanliness, good breakfast and air condtioning stand out. In fact it was even better than we expected. Good staff and service. The spa is small but there is a jacuzzi, a Turkish bath, a sauna. The large Coop grocery is a block away and the ATM is a couple of doors down. The breakfast was excellent with healthy selection included as well as large spread of choice. Excellent hotel & room, very professional service with a good surprise: choose travelling or woman package. Breakfast options were plentiful and staff always friendly and helpful. The breakfast was to die for with lots of local products to eat (focaccia was delicious) and there's was lots of choice. It is modern, clean and well located. Rooms nice size with good trim, helpfull staff. The location is excellent, in a courtyard off the street, so no traffic noise. Funny enough, due to the one-way traffic in certain areas, we paid approx. Multiple tourist sites nearby plus stop for Hop-On, Hop Off bus and Metro / Local buses in Ferrari. We arrived at about 9pm in the evening, the concierge arranged for the car to be valet parked. Our staff speaks fluent English, French, German and Spanish. The staff is welcoming and service-minded. Great find from among the hotels offered from a search engine. Besides the noise-issues it is an affordable and comfortable hotel in the centre of Genova. Overall such a nice place also great value for money! Would we stay here again, definitely not. very easy to reach all the nice part of the city centre and to the public transport. The room was a really good size and the bed and bedding was better than the usual BW UK fare. The air conditioning is a must after a day out in the heat and humidity! Breakfast is paid separately. Excellent location just off the main piazza and round the corner from Via Garibaldi, but tucked away so it's lovely and quiet. We viseted using motorcycles and they have a garage for security which is great, Car wise access may be a lot more tricky. It has a state of the art Turkish Steam Room, Sauna, Jacuzzi and a Salt Room (i.e plays soft music while you sip herbal tea sitting in a high backed chair breathing in air purified with Himalayan Salt). The reception staff behaved with us arrogant. Not the easiest hotel to find when driving as their address does not appear on many SatNavs, so you are wise to locate a nearby main road to set course by. Supermarket just around the corner. The Best Western Plus City Hotel is ideally located in the center of Gênes. Bedrooms and bathrooms are small but well laid out and equipped. Best Western Genova city is situated close to Piazza Matteotti and Via San Lorenzo. The hotel has a central location in a safe area of the city, within walking distance of major sights. The hotel spotless, with very helpful nice staff. Unfortunately this is opposite to a restaurant called Mua. My only complaint is slow service in restaurant - in order to get served I had to complain to reception. Some of the rooms are not really having any view if you happen to get a room where the window is opposite of the next building within 2 meters. They said the music was "not their problem." The breakfasts were fantastic! Taken by surprise at the leisure facilities in the basement, with a Jacuzzi, tropical shower, steam room, sauna, and relaxation room. The hotel is right in the centre of Genoa and is quite small but the room was lovely and everything was spotless. Wherever Life Takes You, Best Western Is There® Each Best Western® branded hotel is independently owned and operated. It was very quiet (New York take notice!). Everything about it is top notch, especially the staff!! The rooms are nice for a European hotel and relatively large and modern. The rooms are modern and obviosuly recently renovated. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future. Soon learnt the air-conditioning ‘doesn't get turned on till June' ... so we had to open up our room each day naturally... this was ok but noisy being in the centre of town. Breakfast is a good spread in a light airy room with pleasant serving staff. If you come to Genoa, I'd strongly recommend that you stay here (but check that the Wellness Centre is in operation). 623; turned out to be very simple room, but quite comfortable and with access to a big shared terrace with wonderful views of Genoa. The other negative is until June, they do not turn on the air conditioner, and the week that we were in Genoa, it was bloody hot. We expected from supposedly global hotel company something different.Of course we filed a complaint with the European Commission's consumer Agency and contacted a lawyer. Modern hotel right in the center of the old town and connected directly to the newer shopping area. The location is ideal - it's in the heart of Genoa, but just down a side street so that it is quiet. The room had a king size bed and a double bunk bed, excellent for our little children. The old city with it's narrow streets and alleys are even closer. Good selection (including local products) for breakfast. Good medium priced restaurants nearby. We asked the system for a hotel close to the centre and it came up with an excellent choice. Stayed for 3 night in October room 625, the room was spacious, well equipped, clean and had a lovely balcony. Your words are the best reward to us. VG location 2. The only slight criticism is very poor sound proofing from nearby rooms. Clean rooms. Our vehicle was put into an underground secured car pard monitored by video camera's. It was spacious and nice. Very pleasant reception and staff. We figured it out but even after getting help from the front desk it went from not working in either elevator to only working in the service elevator. we would definitely stay again in this excelent hotel ! CHeck in and out was fast. Delicious. Tiny lift suitable for a person and a suitcase. Service: staff is very friendly, helpful and efficient. The lifts were old and small but all part of the adventure. I enjoyed my stay at Best Western City.. Only one night in this lovely, clean very central hotel but it was wonderful. So, If you are going to Italy at any time before June 1st, stay away from this place. to the seaside. It is a modern hotel with reasonable sized rooms, many good restaurants very near. It is set off on a side street which keeps the noise level down and quaintness up. Breakfast was also very Good. I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience. I would definitely recommend this hotel. I left my bag on the chair behind me to pull out passports to fill in the blanks. Breakfast was also good and check in and out good. Fabiana Bagnoli, cdell21, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom, dulcearzeno, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Dear Al F, first of all we would like to thank you for choosing our Hotel for your stay in Genoa. I recently stayed for two nights at Best Western City Hotel while in Genoa on business. Good quality rooms, newly refurbished and with good size, and calm. The breakfast is the best hotel breakfast we have ever experienced. ?bsolutely no human reaction ! Driving through heavy traffic on small streets in the city center was challenging. You should arrange beforehand if you need to use the Car park. Internet a bit intermittent but free. The breakfast, EUR 4 extra, was excellent. The main attraction of the hotel is it's location, just off the main square and close to Strada Nuova and the waterfront. We had a great stay here. Service at the hotel was good. We also needed a secure car park for our vehicle. It is near the historic center of the city as well as a metro stop. We would like to apologize for the music inconvenient, we can understand your position, but honestly music was not so loud and not in our street, but in Via Roma. The breakfast was quite good, good value for money. We were alone at the reception along with two receptionists. Our stay was pleasant and the price was reasonable (when bought some time ahead) for a weekend. A flat screen television offered an excellent selection of international programs. They held onto our luggage prior to check in, and after we checked out while we had time to kill before our flight. Staff were friendly and helpful all in all a nice hotel for the money with a great location. The only negative was that the room was quite warm and the air conditioning is only available in the summer months. The room was also great especially if you are a family - we had a bunk bed and king and it suited our family of 5 well. Quality of the bed is excellent, shower is excellent, there isspace in minibar fridge for things you add yourself. Made to order juices from a selection of fruit and veg. The hotel room is very comfortable, minibar, aircon, safe, etc. Robes and flip flops supplied. Sincerely. The hotel is modern and very clean. I am sure there are lots of hotels in Genoa that will be able to offer what a simple Super 8 motel will give you anywhere in North America. My biggest issue is that they advertise Ac but we were there at the end of May. Don't expect any "grandeur", but then you don't pay for that either. I am sorry but I forget her name. We made reservations for our car and confirmed days before we got there. They directed us to their favorite places around the city to see. Modern comfortable room, great bathroom. There was no room to move around as the bed took up the room. Excellent position, quiet, nice staff. I booked this hotel, paying twice what I would normally pay, because I had business and needed to sleep before an early morning flight to Paris. The restaurant next door is also great! Excellent huge shower with standad and "rain" head. The hotel restaurant was superb. We stay at your disposal for any further need and send you our best regards. 5 minute walk from De Ferrari Metro station. Good in-room lighting and friendly staff. Best Western Plus City Hotel of Genoa is where I will stay every opportunity I get. Premises: inside it has a new look and feel, but it's clearly an older hotel that was refurbished a few years ago. 15min walk down to the port/waterfront. We have been there at a conference and we were in the radius of walking distance to every important location. On the negative side - Upon arrival the lady receptionist refused to acknowledge that we had paid for Bed & Breakfast and charged us for breakfast although we had paid for it when we booked. Telefono: +39 010 584707 E-mail: city.ge @ @ bestwestern.it Fax: +39 010 586301. However, we're British and used to the cool and for us the room was way too warm with the window closed. THE BEST breakfast that we have ever had at a hotel and that includes 5 star hotels in the USA. I couldn't sleep and couldn't work. They have a lovely breakfast with lots of very sweet breakfast items; however the cappuccino was excellent and even though I am not a coffee drinker, I had a cup of cappuccino every morning for breakfast. Many electrical outlets that take European and US plugs. Breakfast was an extra €4 and is well worth it as there is a lot of choice and is buffet style. Special Protection, our commitment to ensuring a safe stay with strict cleaning and sanitization protocols. Cordialmente. Fortunately, I had a GPS navigator that helped me find this hotel. Breakfast is good. So, if you're OK with a warmer room and could sleep with the window closed, you'd probably be OK. Comfortable, spacious room and extremely helpful and service minded staff. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. Very happy! The hotel was nice and clean and the staff is very helpful. Healthcare insurance throughout the stay in partnership with AXA Partners. Did not sleep well as there are not even ceiling fans to compensate for the lack of Ac. This hotel is in a nice spot for visiting and touring Genova. Ten of us stayed there for three nights prior to a Transatlantic cruise. These reviews are the subjective opinions of individual travelers and not of TripAdvisor LLC nor of its partners. Not one hotel I visited in the past has this. Our room was comfortable and a decent size. The hotel refused to move me (there was another affiliated hotel a block away), and did not have any ear plugs. Excelent !) Also the reception staff gave us a couple of good recommendations for restaurants in the area. We had been traveling with a group in Italy, but decided to stay on our own in Genova. The hotel manager was on holiday, until the end of our stay and then did not get in touch with us personally. Only unfortunate issue with this hotel is the elevator on the right corner...very very small, could only fit 1 adult and 1 child in a pram (barely)...we were given a family room on the top floor which was very spacious, had an exquisite view of the town from above and a big balcony..i found some time to relax with a book at the balcony and believe me...the view was second to none! Of course the star system means different things to different people. You can see up to the sea, mountains and over the rooftops of the city of Genova. Unfortunately for me bathroom was only bad bit - no soap (or shampoo). If you go, don't miss the breakfast, which is out of this world - and only costs Six Euro. Was a great value for us, I'm just not sure what the value is compared to other places in Genoa -- a nice city with low prices. The buffet was fabulous. Would definately visit this hotel when in Genoa again. The hotel doesn't switch it on until June so I would imagine that the room could become rather uncomfortable. About air conditioning we know end of May has been especially hot but it is true that our system does not permit to choose hot or cold; we guarantee air conditioning from June to September, as well indicated in our web pages. Convenient valet parking in the building right next door. It was hot and they informed us that they do not turn on the Ac until June. Allo stesso tempo siamo stupiti dal tono della sua recensione e vogliamo prendere le distanze da ogni accusa. The hotel should really block rooms in this case. Upon arrival the room you had been assigned was not cleaned yet and you are offered other one. 4) All Guest receive free WI-FI which is great 5) The bedrooms are small, even the doubles, not for Italian standards, but small for USA and UK standards. The room was sparse but clean. Great service, breakfast and amenities in room. The staff went above and beyond to help us. Good, reliable internet. My husband and I stayed for one night after a cruise. Genova City Hotel S.r.l. Helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. There is a Bar adjacent with tables in the plaza to view a fountain and the hotel, well worth a visit. We know people have different sensibility to sounds, but nobody of our 120 guests complained about it. We were then sent a couple of street away to a public multi storey which was not what we had hoped for. My family of four booked a room with bunk beds , the rooms were clean the hotel was immaculate, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly . It's no our practice to have ear plugs as we are in a pedestrian street and our rooms are soundproofed. You are about 300 meters from the street Via XX de Setembre , were you can find well known trademarks ( H & M , Zara, etc.) Just to mention that we traveled with our two children who are 3 and 7 years old! Definitely a good place to stay in Genoa!!!! We traveled with three teenage boys and the rooms were extremely roomy with enough space for everyone. If you like to use your clothes ironed like me just ask for it and they will take it to your room. It is located in a small square just off the smart via Roma. The location is very convenient to historic center and some nice shops around the corner. We arrived late at night just to spend the night as a stopover on our journey from Florence to Nice so we did not get to experience much of the hotel or the city. Just couldn't work out how to operate steam room. We had selected the Best Western City Hotel to spend the night before Mediterranean Cruise. My mother moves around in a wheelchair and the two elevators are too small to accommodate even a small foldable transport chair. The warmth of the whole staff, from breakfast servers to reception to managers, made dealing with beaurocracies, sadness and a city broken in half by the Morante bridge falling down so much easier--there were always warm smiles to return "home" to. We could walk all over the city without issue. We are glad you appreciated our location, room and breakfast. Besides the free WiFi (reliable and fast) there was a computer available at any time, and what was important for me - there was a printer and a scanner ready for use 24 h. The staff was very friendly and professional. Extensive good quality breakfast buffet. I can only say good things about this hotel. We stayed here for one night after we disembarked from a cruise we took. - Bathroom amenities: Liquid hand soap, body lotion, toothbrush/toothpaste, vanity kit, shaving kit, shoe sponge, combined shampoo/bodywash and one of the best hairdryers I have ever come across in a hotel! As a chain, Best Western can be hit and miss, but this hotel is fabulous! The bathroom was just as bad, I am not super skinny but not obese and I had to squeeze into the shower. Bathroom was exceptional but this was after all Italian. In summary the hotel scores 4/5 for a good Best Western, Room Tip: This is a better and cheaper hotel that the Best Western Metropoli which is just 50M round the corner. The storage area is minimal with insufficient shelves. Reception staff tried to explain you that this event was not under our responsibility, not that we did not care of you. Close to city centre with shops, theatres and museums closeby with Genoa Aquarium walking distance too. 2. Wifi great. We speak Italian English and Spanish so language isn't the barrier. Temperature of the room was too hot (even with cold weather outside) and we were told to "just open the window" if we wanted it cooler. Excelent location, in a quiet street, near the San Lorenzo chappel , Il Ducal, etc. The wellness centre was perfect after our hike during the day. We did however especially like the Make Your Own Pancakes machine. Mind you, I couldn't get the english speaker channels working on my TV however my TV had an external HDMI input so I could plug my laptop in and watch my own stuff. The location is in a great part of town & the staff are very helpful. Would definitely come back to Genoa again and would definitely come to this hotel again. Our room was nicely decorated and the comfort of the bed (and pillows) were among the best we have had in a hotel, and it was really appreciated to have a kettle and teas/ coffee in the room. Our staff speaks fluent English, French, German and Spanish. The hotel is behind Via Roma, it is near Galeria Mazzini, the 3 Palaces, the Elevator for Spianata Castelleto, Via XX de Settembre etc.. They gave us laundry service even though we requested it three hours late. Genova City Hotel S.r.l. The rooms are well appointed and spacious with very good sized beds. - Partita IVA: 00356800102 +39 010 584707 Prenota We booked a night here on our way through Europe and were pleasantly surprised by both the standard of room and the welcome by reception staff despite arriving at ridiculous o'clock in the morning. The staff were excellent. The hotel is located in an excellent place - middle of the city, just between the historical part and the business, scientific part. Every staff member I spoke to were happy to communicate in english after my faltering and pretty useless attempts at Italian. The room was spotlessly clean and given Air France lost my bag, I was pleased to see toothbrush and toothpaste was supplied! Grace (an Asian receptionist) is indifferent & not customer-friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel for both business and tourism. I should also mention regarding the TV that as soon as you put your keycard into the slot inside the room to turn on the power, the TV automatically comes on and is tuned by default to the hotel channel -- therefore you have a matter of seconds from entering your room to finding the remote to turn it off else you are subjected to Best Westerns 'theme tune' which seriously is the most annoying thing in the world - sort of like a mash-up of all the horrendous ear-worm creating euro-pop you have ever heard. The staff always was ready to assist and most had a good knowledge of English. They simply couldn't care less. The bathroom has a dispenser of disposable plastic bags. Warm room because the hotel turned off the aircon due to supposedly cool weather. Coming again to Genova we ´certainly would stay there again! the Carlo Felice theatre, the museums in Via Garibaldi, the San Lorenzo Cathedral, Palazzo Ducale and the Aquarium. The Best Western offered nicer service, cleaner hotels and rooms, better location, functioning wifi and an overall more pleasant stay. Good breakfast with plenty of variety. Location was amazing, walking distance to endless choices for cafes, restaurants, shops and to Porto Antico. We were quite pleased with our stay. Also we asked for feather pillows for both of us but they only gave for one person. The breakfast was the same every day but good choice for the most needs. Nice comfortable rooms. Breakfast was delicious: full range of options and actual proper coffee. Check in no problem despite getting there pretty late. All rooms have been completely renovated in 2015 and are equipped with electronic key, wood floor, free Wi-Fi, LCD television, free sports and movie, wake up light, in-room safe and tea and coffee maker. Although the staff at the front desk we reassured that if it is determined that I was robbed in the territory of the hotel, they are responsible.
